shoes!

I started working in a comfort shoe store earlier this year, and have since found myself checking out people's shoes constantly. I guess I talk about them all day and like learning more and differentiating the good ones from the downright horrible ones. I am drawn to quality comfort shoes with rich colors, and unique design/embellishments. Of course there are some absolutely gorgeous, horribly painful shoes out there too.

In between selling my art at a busy street fair this summer, I held my camera at waist level and took photos from under my display table of the people passing by. I enjoyed catching a bit of the bustle from a unique and anonymous perspective. The random click of the camera as people naturally and unsuspectingly passed by created some great compositions. Other times, I would very intentionally see some cool shoes about to pass and try my best to capture them in a photo.

Below you will find some of the images I took. A broad spectrum of shoes, like the people that are wearing them. If you are interested in a particular image or a group of images, I can make prints of these. They will be on a block of wood and varnished with resin. Approximately 5" x 7" unless otherwise requested, for $25.

back in business!

The Thirty-One! Art Show drew a big crowd with a long line wrapping around the block again. Thanks to the friends and family who came by to support me, and those of you who supported me with your kind words from afar! We had a good time.

Below you will find images of all 31 paintings and a few images of the event. It took me about a month to post this stuff up.... enjoying the summer i suppose!

...and one of these days, I will let you know about my new website! I just purchased a year commitment to a hosting site and with lots of tutorials on how to build it, it just seems a bit daunting at the moment and a very-left brained project indeed. But, I am also excited to push myself and create this on my own. I want to connect the site to Pay Pal and really start more consistently supporting myself with my art. So stay tuned.

Twenty originals sold at the show, but I can make prints of all images for $25 plus shipping (except for the first image of the robin and flowers)

Prints are affixed on approx 6" x 6" blocks of wood, and coated with a durable resin varnish. Email me if you are interested, including the description of the piece you would like. Please allow 2 weeks prep time for these special orders.

Thirty-One! show update

I have been out of town the last couple weekends, and have yet to really get started! So as pleasant as these trips have been, I set myself up for a busy next couple weeks. But, I always do best under pressure. I have until July 30th to turn them in, so there is a little time left :) Some themes have been going around in my head: I probably will include some more botanical stuff, and include some mixed media collages (a little sewing, some acrylic transfers), and maybe a few pen and ink drawings. We'll see. I will post images of all 31 pieces on this blog, so stay keep checking back!

Every Day Wine Show

I showed new paintings at Every Day Wine from June 26th - July 29th. Below are some examples of this recent work. These were painted primarily with acrylics, though if you look closely, some have a little red wine in them! Each painting is approximately 10" x 10", and each is still available for $95 plus shipping.
